I've just uploaded 2 new polls on the main page, to ask you if you have Kyodai 11.21 running perfectly on your computer. I just wanted to be sure... Wink Also, I'm working on fixing a few things. Nothing important. The version currently available on my site works fine, as far as I know. The next version, 11.25, will be posted on ZDNet first, and should be available next week.

Here it is ! Kyodai 11.21 is now officially available to the public ! ^_^ This week-end I actually worked a lot on fine-tuning it, and I ended up adding a few things to Kyodai since Beta 7, including an improved DirectX panel which saves automatically the preferred driver and display mode for the next time. Also, most options involving DirectX graphics (such as the 3D menu and the tilesets and backgrounds) should be faster than ever under Windows 9X. All in all, I'm really satisfied with the current results, and I don't regret switching to DirectX. Do you ?  Update (after a short night) : I'm sorry for the mess. First of all, I forgot to update the main download link before going to bed. So you may have downloaded version 10.21 by mistake, instead of v11.21... If you did so, please download it again. Anyway I had to re-upload the files, to fix a few minor bugs.

Kyodai 11.21 (final version) is finished. Yeah Wink Not published yet, though. I still have to go through some of the help files to update old information. The release date is set to March 21, on my 25th birthday. See you there ! Wink

Been there, done that... I left Windows 2000 without too much regret, after it constantly prevented me to debug Kyodai. I'll keep testing Kyodai on Windows 2000, of course, trying to maintain maximum compatibility. Also, I've been working on modifying the 3D engine to make the board look like the 2D version. This way, I could remove all 2D code in the future and concentrate myself on the 3D engine (since the 2D/3D poll seems to progressively tell me that I shouldn't care anymore about 2D).  Update : Cool ! Tonight I managed to re-implement the alpha blending routines in Kyodai. Technically, it means that when you remove a pair of tiles in 3D, they'll now disappear with the same effect as the 2D version's Ghost effect (fade out). Like in the good old v10.21 years... Wink Also, I now have a better freedom in implementing new effects. For example, now when you start a game (any of them), the board will appear via a fade-in transition. Looks good !

Hi there. I've removed the previous beta links because my account at Club Internet has been disabled - I actually left this ISP two weeks ago. They disabled it without warning me, though, but I don't care much. Anyway, Beta 7 is very stable and everybody seems to be happy with it. Try it if you haven't yet, it's very close to the final version. I'll probably try to release v11.00 final on time for March 21st, for my 25th birthday.

Finally, the Windows 2000 bug is fixed ! I installed W2k yesterday and after a long struggle against the drivers, programs to reinstall, etc, I finally spotted the bug and blasted it. The only question that remains is, why did it work on Windows 98 Smile... So, I've posted a new Beta (it brings us to number 7...), you can find it at the usual URL. That's all folks ! Oh, yes, I've also fixed a few minor bugs... Wink

Okay, here's Beta 6 ! It's mostly a bug-fix release, for those of you who had problems with Beta 5. Maybe it'll also fix the Windows 2000 problems for G400 cards in Bump Mapping mode, not sure yet. Hey, I don't have Windows 2000... ^_^;

No, Beta 6 isn't ready yet. Just wanted to point out a small bug in Beta 5 : if you select 2D mode and restart Kyodai, it will crash. The workaround is to delete the Kyodai.ini file, as always... Or switch to 3D. If you want to play in 2D mode, don't forget to switch to 3D before leaving the game. The bug was fixed a few days ago but I forgot to tell you. Well, that's all for now ! Wink

Hi there. Today, Kyodai was selected as Game of the Week on the Matrox 3D Gaming page. I believe this is the first time Kyodai is ever mentioned on a major company's website, apart from the companies specialized in software libraries. Plus, their G400 card is so cool (except for OpenGL, but well I switched to DirectX, remember ? Wink)...  I'm currently trying to finish Beta 6 for next week. It will hopefully have fullscreen support. I was able to play in fullscreen today, so Voodoo owners may start to be happy again... Smile Also, I've speeded up the resizing process, avoiding reloading textures when I don't need it. I've been reported that Kyodai has a minor problem under Windows 2000, if you're using a G400 card : the bump mapping feature won't work and will generate an access violation. I'm not sure if it's my fault or the drivers' fault. Anyway. Apart from that, I'm glad to see there are so few bug reports ! It's a hard work to make sure I'm not adding more bugs when adding features, because DirectX is still a hard library to master. Phew !

Only three days and already a new beta ? Yup. I've been working a lot on improving the Bump Mapping support, and, wow, it really rocks now. Also, I've fixed the bugs reported after the release of Beta 3. Well, I haven't got much more to say, except that you really should start downloading the Beta if you haven't tried the Beta versions before, because it's more and more stable, and on my computer it doesn't crash anymore. Bye !
