Hi ! Kyodai Mahjongg 16.00 is officially released ! Happy ? Wink  There are a few additions since the last beta, so be sure to download it. I've been offline for two days, going to a friend's wedding in Paris, so please bear with me if I'm not answering the mail -- I'm so late. Also, if you sent me an e-mail on February 13 and didn't get an answer, please send it again, because I probably lost it due to a bad manipulation. Now have fun !

Quick news, but good news : I've finally been able to fix the infamous G400/Radeon Bump Mapping bug ! It was actually 3 bugs that were quite hard to track, because they weren't related to the EMBM feature. Now I can start working on the finishing touches of Kyodai 16.00 ! Maybe this week, who knows ?  Update : Kyodai 16.00 Beta 4 is online ! You can download it right now. It features the EMBM bugfix and a few new tilesets. Don't forget to answer the polls !

Hi there ! Beta 3 is ready for you. You can download it here. This time it's a 4,4mb file -- I decided to include all of the usual files just to make sure no one ever tells me "This beta version sucks because you removed most of the tilesets"... I must admit I was entertained by this comment, but it wasn't too thrilling to imagine that people actually think I remove tilesets for the sake of it, and not because they're not needed in a beta version that is not supposed to stay forever on your computer.  Technically, I haven't changed a lot of things in the 3D version compared to Beta 2. You can start sending me e-mail on all the little details that bother you in the beta version. Most of my work this week has been put in the 2D-only version, which is included in the package. I would like to hear as soon as possible from Windows NT 4 users to make sure this version works -- or doesn't work on their operating system. Please send me an e-mail as soon as possible !

Hello. Here I'm going to try to give you some reasons for removing the 2D code from Kyodai.  - DX8 is now a reality. Even DirectX 8.0a is out now. As you may already know, DX8 has removed support for 2D code. Not that you can't do 2D games with it -- it's just that you'll have to rewrite all your code to make it use it the 3D hardware. My 2D interface would be painful to convert to 3D, so I figured it was easier to use the current 3D engine to emulate 2D. The fact is that I want to convert Kyodai to DirectX 8 somewhere in the future. I did have much trouble with DirectX 7 though, so I'm going to do that carefully. - This week, I've been working on a 2D-only version of Kyodai 15.42... I've made sure to use DirectX 3.0 instructions, so it should in fact work on every machine with DX3 installed, including Windows NT 4. Which should let me remove the older Kyodai 10.21 from the Full Package. I'm very happy with this idea, in fact. Now NT4 users should be able to benefit from all the improvements that have been brought to Kyodai last year. - And finally, I don't enjoy programming in 2D anymore. As silly as it seems, it's the most important thing for me. Being forced to make everything 2D-compatible just makes everything harder to improve.  Thanks everyone for answering the polls (you can still participate). The results show that less than 15% of the Kyodai user base wants to go back to version 15.42, and I guess they'll be happy with the 2D-only version, which I may or may not update in the future (I can't promise anything but I'll think of it).  Gotta go back to work... Okay, maybe just some online surfing... I need some rest ! Smile
