Hi ! Based on your feedback and my own work, I've made some improvements to the latest version. So here's a new beta, Kyodai 16.00 Beta 2, which I encourage you to download and try for yourself. Don't forget to uninstall your Beta 1 first.  Please answer the poll below as you did last week (I've reset the counts). If you choose the "doesn't work" answer, please send me an e-mail to explain your problem, or I won't take your vote into account. I believe that this new version shows what I intended to do for the new 2D engine. It now works almost perfectly. I've also simplified the menus, made the new tiles appear smoothly in Slider, speeded up the 2D engine by about 10%, and reduced the EXE size by nearly 100kb, which will allow me to add more backgrounds or songs to the Light Package. Beta alert !! Smile  I've got this one ready for you... kyo16b1.exe is a beta version of Kyodai 16.00. What's the difference ? As I said below, I removed the 2D engine and replaced it with a 2D simulation of the 3D engine. It seems to work great for the first three mini-games, but there are some issues with the Small tileset games, especially Slider and Hashira. Don't worry, these glitches will be fixed in the final version. What I'd like you to do is to download this file (1,4mb), install it and test it. Then tell me if it works. I don't guarantee I will have an answer for you, but I'll post updates here on the current state of Kyodai.  Technically, I'd like you to send an e-mail and tell me : - If Kyodai 15.42 works fine for you in 2D and 3D, - If the new 2D engine works fine for you (and if you prefer it to the older one), - Your opinion on whether or not I should continue with this new 2D engine, or go back to the older one.  Oh, one last thing. I think I have fixed the EMBM problem that appeared in version 15.00... It was actually a stupid error due to the architecture differences between DX6 and DX7. If you have a G400 or Radeon video card, please tell me if it works ! Thanks !

Hi there. I've put a new poll online... After all these years, I was wondering if I could modify my 2D engine or not. My dream would be to use the 3D engine to show the board in 2D. The results would be the same, but it would simplify so much my own code, plus you would get all the cool special effects from the 3D version. Please everybody, try to participate ! Thanks ! Smile  As for the current state of Kyodai... Well, I've tried to get definitely rid of the Z-Buffer, just to save a few more FPS. But it just seems to be impossible without forcing the board to be viewed from the top (which is the current option when you disable the Z-Buffer). Oh well. I'm also trying to sort my to-do-list, and get rid of the useless options. This is the only way I can concentrate on the real useful ones... Wink

Hi everyone ! I just wanted to celebrate two things with you. First of all, happy new year ! Smile Don't worry, you'll see a whole bunch of new versions coming in 2001... I've still got a long "to-do-list" !  Then, I'd also like to let you know that, a few minutes ago, the main page at Kyodai.com welcomed its 2.000.000th visitor... Smile The number of daily visits keeps increasing every day, and I'm glad about that. Call me stupid... Wink  As for the current news, well... I've added a few useless options to the game, but I'm still rather involved in my semi-holidays so don't expect a new release before a week or two... Wink I still have to find in my "to-do-list" what I'm planning to add next... Hard to say ! Smile

Again two weeks after... Well, at least now it has become a habit so I don't have to apologize, especially because it's Christmas so I'm busy in real life and it's understandable... Wink  So I've got a new version for you, v15.42, which fixes a number of minor to major bugs in the layout editor, in online two-player mode and in the tile animations. Some of these bugs had been there for months, so I'm glad they're gone now.  From now on, I'll probably start working on a new major update, so don't except a new version before at least three to six weeks. My goal is to add some difficulty levels to the Solitaire game, and bend some rules for the other games. We'll see when it comes... Merry Christmas and Happy new year then ! Wink
